Job Description

Emery Jensen Distribution is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ace Hardware Corporation that distributes hardware and home improvement products to independent pro‑lumber, paint, hardware, and e‑retailer customers. This field‑based Retail Sales Specialist will assist in driving sales through effective merchandising, stocking, executing retail pricing, overseeing store conversion programs, and maintaining all point‑of‑purchase changes. The position is responsible for servicing Hammond Lumber.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively merchandise planograms to increase inventory turns and sales.
  • Maintain exemplary relations with store personnel and management to support the company’s value proposition.
  • Walk floor, inspect sets, merchandise, and stock product as necessary.
  • Execute and maintain store level resets to maximize sales results and turns.
  • Create space on planograms (POGs) and add new products to existing sets to drive incremental sales per square foot.
  • Implement advertising drops.
  • Assist buyers and store employees to increase retail sales and turns with EJD products.
  • Ensure orders are accurate and complete, moving products from receiving to saleable floor space promptly; document any mis‑picks and shipping issues.
  • Diagnose, research, and answer questions regarding ordering and product trends.
  • Provide customer feedback on packing, shipping, and RSC performance.
  • Document client input on shipper performance, product issues, scan problems, reset logistics, etc.
  • Verify all items needed for a POG are represented and properly located; order missing SKUs if required.
  • Correct inventory information as needed.
  • Ensure customer pricing labels are present and properly placed.
  • Identify deleted items and implement rollover or replacement SKU.
  • Check graphics and POP material as applicable.
  • Recommend changes in product presentation level.
  • Follow up on any special requests and communicate results to the Strategic Account Manager.
  • Assist stores with credits and claims.
  • Attend new store openings and special store events.
  • Execute price shops as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of retail or customer service experience, or bachelor’s degree with 1 year of retail experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Detail‑oriented, highly organized self‑starter able to thrive in a fast‑paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, solve problems, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and accomplish objectives in an active store environment.
  • Ability to climb a ladder, carry 35 lbs, and put away stock.
  • Up to 80 % travel, including overnight stays.
  • Air travel required.
  • Must reside in Maine and possess a valid driver’s license (preferably in the Portland area).
Compensation

$54,000 – $65,000 annually.
