Job Description

Position involves all duties related to repairing and refinishing any and all equipment associated with a medium size highway and infrastructure construction company. This includes but is not limited to the diagnosis, parts and labor estimating, repair, preparation, and refinishing of light and heavy duty trucks, heavy equipment such as wheel loaders, asphalt pavers, compaction equipment, scrapers, dozers, crushing equipment, asphalt plants, and a variety of trailers.

Functions
  • Prepare vehicles/equipment for painting which may include washing, welding, grinding, sanding, fabricating, small and large body repairs, resolving mechanical issues, masking, aiming headlights, aligning wheels, bleeding hydraulic brake systems, removing & installing decals.
  • Maintain paint and paint inventory.
  • Maintain painting equipment and areas.
  • Maintain regulatory environmental records.
  • Ensure proper operation of painting equipment.
  • Identify and advise the supervisor of any additional work that is required/advisable upon discovery.
  • Prepare cost estimates; coordinating repairs with other required services; gathering parts, supplies, equipment and tools to perform the work.
  • Accurately complete paperwork and documentation for each job.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in performing mechanical, electrical and body and paint repairs to vehicles with body damage or those needing maintenance work, including: removing, fabricating, attaching, and aligning parts; repairing dents; filling and sealing depressions; hammering, shaping, shrinking, expanding, filing, grinding sanding, smoothing, and feather edging surfaces; applying repair techniques and tools.
  • Know how to utilize tools and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in related field or 4 years experience accomplishing all duties associated with painting vehicles and/or equipment.
  • Possess an appropriate arsenal of relevant tools.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements.
  • Current driver’s license with clean driving record and driving experience required.
  • Completion of grade 12 or equivalent preferred.
  • Must pay high attention to detail.
  • Display an uncompromising focus on safety by properly following company policies and OSHA/DOT/DEQ regulations for safe working procedures and protection of the environment.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
  • Be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must require minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to understand technical manuals and references.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • At least 20/40 acuity (Snellen) in each eye with or without correction. At least 70 degrees peripheral in horizontal meridian measured in each eye.
Work Demands & Environment

Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, and as needed, safety‑toed boots, respirator, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment.

Employee will be required to work in outdoor environments which may include exposure to extreme temperatures and weather. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, stand, sit, shovel, sweep, rake, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms, possibly for extended periods. Requires occasional moving/lifting of up to 50 pounds during the course of the work day.
