ResponsibilitiesThe Estimator/Construction Manager is responsible for pre-construction planning, pre-bid attendance, bid management, and estimating activities.
- MUST HAVE wireless telecom construction AND electrical bidding experience, no exceptions
- MUST be located within Houston, Dallas, San Antonio or Austin TX (hybrid work structure)
- Pre-Construction & Estimating:
- Lead pre-construction planning, site walks, and bid management for telecom infrastructure projects.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, review bid documents, scopes of work, drawings, site plans, and specifications.
- Work with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to gather quotes, perform takeoffs, and create accurate cost estimates.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and drafters to ensure plans meet construction feasibility and customer requirements.
- Maintain RFI and bid logs; prepare and manage documentation in support of proposals and bids.
- Identify and pre-qualify vendors and subcontractors; manage contact records and vendor relationships.
- Contribute to value engineering, cost savings, and scope clarification.
- Construction Management:
- Direct multiple construction crews and subcontractors on job site execution.
- Review and monitor project schedules, identifying risks and enforcing timelines.
- Lead project startup, assigning crews, reviewing expectations, and monitoring progress and quality.
- Promote and enforce a culture of safety, holding teams accountable for safe work practices.
- Manage project budgets and ensure work is completed on-time and within financial parameters.
- Interface with clients and stakeholders, providing high-level customer service and issue resolution.
- Handle hiring, onboarding, and personnel paperwork in coordination with HR.
- Participate in estimating, bidding, contract negotiation, and change order preparation.
- Interpret and resolve issues related to drawings, maps, blueprints, and specifications.
- Inspect work for compliance and quality; oversee tools, vehicles, and other project resources.
- Attend project and executive meetings to report progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred; equivalent field experience also considered.
- 2-5 years of experience managing wireless telecom construction projects including civil, electrical, and tower work (REQUIRED).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in estimating and pre-construction for telecom or utility projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction industry practices, materials, and methods, including purchasing and vendor coordination.
- Proven ability to read and interpret building plans, scopes of work, specifications, and related construction documents.
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); ability to learn and navigate custom project management software.
- Hands‑on leadership style—comfortable working in the field with crews and solving problems on site.
- Prior site management experience, with a track record of maintaining strong client and supplier relationships.
- Must be located in Houston, Dallas, Austin or San Antonio, TX, with the ability to travel up to 50% throughout these Texas markets.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required.
