DescriptionEnsure Acosta payroll taxes are compliant with all applicable laws and regulations. Reconcile payroll tax with holdings, tax returns and payments. Coordinate quarterly and annual adjustments, and establish and maintain controls including relationships with auditor, federal, state and local agencies. Responsible for quarterly and annual reconciliations, W-2 and W-2C tax form preparation and other year-end requirements.
Responsibilities- Ensures Acosta’s payroll taxes are compliant with federal, state and local regulations.
- Research laws and regulations regarding federal, state and local taxes, taxable events and payroll withholding procedures in a multi-state environment.
- Ensure associate state and local taxes are set up appropriately in UKG Pro and in compliance with applicable state and local laws.
- Generate and distribute year-end tax forms W-2 and W-2C.
- Reconcile filing and deposit records with taxing authorities.
- Develop necessary controls including relationships with internal and external auditors and federal, state and local agencies.
- Manage quarterly and annual adjustments.
- Investigate and respond to tax notices from federal, state and local agencies in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with unemployment compensation service provider and state unemployment agencies on all tax related issues, amendments, etc.
- Maintain unemployment rates in UKG Pro.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in industry name required.
- 5 years of Payroll Tax experience in a multi-state and local jurisdictional environment.
- UKG and ADP experience preferred.
Minimum Qualifications – Knowledge,
Skills And Abilities- Proficiency with UKG and ADP Enterprise and/or ADP Global View software.
- Intermediate level proficiency with Excel spreadsheets to include pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
- Intermediate level knowledge of complexities of state and local taxation, to include reciprocal agreements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Physical Requirements
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Job may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment weighing less than 15 pounds. This position involves viewing a computer monitor for more than 30% of the time. Personal protective equipment may need to be worn. Travel approximately 0%.
