Production Manager, Industrial Maintenance
The Production Team Leader supports the Coating Manager by ensuring daily operations in the Coating department run efficiently, safely, and in compliance with standard operating procedures. This role provides hands-on leadership, assists with training, supports equipment readiness and maintenance, and helps troubleshoot quality and production issues across all AR lab processes.
ResponsibilitiesFloat across AR Coating operations to support production needs and staffing priorities
Ensure compliance with SOPs, quality standards, and safety procedures
Communicate operational, quality, and safety issues to management in a timely manner
Verify equipment readiness and assist with routine maintenance and cleaning
Support AR coating processes, including lens inspection, washing, hard coating, and machine setup
Assist with routing work to meet production schedules
Handle flammable and corrosive materials in accordance with safety guidelines
Maintain clean, organized workstations and lab areas
Provide guidance and support to team members and assist with training as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned by management
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to speak, read, and write English
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to support and guide a team
Strong understanding of workplace safety, quality standards, and standard operating procedures
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and adapt to changing priorities
Experience working with automated or computer-controlled equipment
Basic computer proficiency, including Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel preferred)
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with employees and management
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Willingness and availability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds
Consistent attendance and punctuality
Preferred Qualifications3–5 years of experience in the optical industry, particularly working with ophthalmic lenses
Previous experience as a Team Leader, Lead Operator, or supervisory role
Experience with Anti-Reflective/Hi-Vision Coating processes and equipment
Knowledge of troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, and process improvement
Experience handling hazardous or corrosive materials in a manufacturing environment
Familiarity with planning, scheduling, and production workflow coordination
