Assistant Scientist Product Integrity Analytical
Under general direction and guidance, the Assistant Scientist supports, coordinates, and performs activities that evaluate the stability and shelf life of Mary Kay Inc products, ingredients, and technologies prior to market launch. This role includes risk assessments, study design, drafting technical reports, summaries, and project management. The position communicates effectively with peers, management, external laboratories, and supports PIA operations in MK China and other international markets.
Aboutthe Role
- Applies basic understanding of standard lab practices and techniques to substantiate the stability of ingredients, products, and other items marketed by Mary Kay Inc. Works with supervisor or experienced colleagues to ensure products are designed to maintain fit, form, and function during expected use and storage conditions. Begins to compile data, analyze and interpret results, writes or reviews reports, and communicates study results to R&D or New Product Development partners.
May act as a NPD project owner for PIA. - Works within the department and assists senior technical staff on projects and initiatives. Drafts, updates, and trains on SOPs, work instructions, methods, and other laboratory documents to ensure technical rigor and compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset in daily work. Critically evaluates work processes and proposes improvements. Participates in activities and projects to support overall department/R&D goals.
- Develops technical capabilities, remains externally focused, and maintains awareness of industry technology, product safety concerns, and regulatory compliance related to stability testing and analysis. Seeks growth opportunities such as stability webinars and conferences.
- Participates in routine laboratory maintenance, including ordering, solvent preparation, hazardous waste disposal, instrument vendor communications, and overall GLP compliance.
- Requires on‑site work at a Mary Kay facility.
- Education: Bachelor/University Degree in Chemistry or related field.
- Experience: 0+ years.
- Must understand basic principles of chemistry.
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts; written and presentation skills for technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Highly organized, capable of managing high detail and multiple tasks under pressure.
- Agility – able to adapt to changing priorities.
- Can perform duties with minimal direction and independently deliver assignments under general guidance.
