Safety Manager – Kentucky Locations (Louisville / Lexington)

The Safety Manager supports and assists company personnel with job‑site safety at Ashland, Lexington, Louisville, and Paintsville locations. The position reports primarily to the Louisville and Lexington offices and provides safety leadership through training, hazard recognition, site audits, policy updates, accident investigations, pre‑job safety meetings, and pre‑planning for future projects.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in developing safety policies, procedures, and practices that prevent accidents and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, IOSHA, MSHA, DOT, NFPA, EPA).
  • Stay current on all legal changes and updates.
  • Maintain, promote, and enforce project‑site safety in accordance with company, state, and federal policies and procedures.
  • Monitor job‑site locations for hazards and safety concerns, taking necessary measures to correct or eliminate hazards.
  • Support Project Managers, Foremen, and field employees to ensure each construction site operates safely for employees, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Provide recommendations and assistance regarding job‑site hazards, employee training, safe equipment operation, and safe material or substance utilization.
  • Ensure new employees receive safety orientation prior to beginning work.
  • Advise the Safety Director on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
  • Provide training for employees in safe work practices and required training per job functions and site requirements.
  • Lead safety committee meetings quarterly.
  • Maintain safety files and records.
  • Ensure all offices and sites have the proper PPE and safety equipment.
  • Perform safety inspections and prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures; follow up to ensure implementation.
  • Conduct accident investigations and prepare reports identifying possible causes and hazards; submit reports to the Safety Director in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
  • Provide direction to others in ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations (no direct supervision responsibilities).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of field safety management experience, preferably in the construction MEP industry.
  • Strong knowledge of all applicable OSHA, DOT, NFPA, and EPA regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fundamentals of construction safety, accident prevention, occupational injury, human factors, industry safety criteria, risk management, and incident investigation techniques and methods.
  • Ability to lead and communicate effectively with field employees, subcontractors, supervisors/foremen, project managers, and client representatives.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Detail‑oriented with the ability to multitask.
Preferred Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a safety‑related field is preferred, but not required.
  • 30‑hour OSHA certification required.
  • OSHA Outreach Trainer certification may be required for some job locations.
