Job SummaryWKYT seeks a confident, creative Digital Anchor/Producer to serve as an on‑camera presence for our streaming and social platforms and as a content creator for our website. This role blends digital producing, on‑camera anchoring, and digital journalism to grow audience engagement across OTT, social media, and the station website.
Duties & Responsibilities- Anchor live streaming newscasts, on‑demand segments, and other digital programming; be one of the on‑camera faces of the station’s streaming platforms.
- Conceptualize and produce digital‑first newscasts and segments, including writing scripts, selecting video and graphics, and cueing live elements.
- Be the digital lead for breaking news coverage — front‑press conferences streamed by the station, perform talkbacks with reporters and field crews, and guide live digital coverage.
- Write accurate, concise AP‑style stories for the station website covering a wide range of topics.
- Produce and edit video and photo content for digital platforms; create packages, social clips, and photo galleries to enhance coverage.
- Publish stories and multimedia using the station’s Content Management System and follow SEO best practices to maximize web traffic.
- Manage and monitor WKYT social media accounts (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, You Tube, Tik Tok as applicable); post updates, engage with viewers, and respond to messages when appropriate.
- Use digital and social analytics to inform story selection, presentation, and distribution strategies.
- Contact public officials, law enforcement, PIOs, and community members to gather and verify information for stories.
- Collaborate closely with reporters, producers, anchors, photographers, editors, and meteorologists across the newsroom.
- Work a flexible schedule that includes mornings, weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday), and holidays; be willing to work overtime and cover shifts for colleagues as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field OR equivalent experience in journalism.
- Minimum 1 year of digital content experience; some on‑camera experience required.
- Demonstrated strong news writing skills and familiarity with AP Style.
- Basic photo and video editing skills; experience with video editing software (Edius, Adobe Premiere, Avid, Final Cut, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with social media best practices and experience managing multiple platforms simultaneously.
- Comfortable learning and using a CMS and live streaming tools; willingness to learn SEO and analytics.
- Excellent communication skills, strong news judgment, and ability to perform under deadline pressure.
- Team player with the ability to work cooperatively in a fast‑paced newsroom environment.
- Experience with ENPS or similar newsroom systems.
- Familiarity with HTML and web publishing workflows.
- Prior experience producing or hosting streaming/OTT content.
- Advanced video editing or graphic skills.
