Dental Assistant/UKHC – UK Health Care, Lexington, KY

Salary: $17.50–27.31/hour, Grade Level 07, Full‑time, 40 hrs per week (Day Shift 8:00 am–5:00 pm). Shift may vary.

We are looking for a dedicated dental assistant to support high‑quality dental care. The role involves preparing patients and treatment areas, assisting during dental procedures, maintaining accurate patient records, sterilizing instruments, managing supplies, and performing coronal polishing and radiography. The assistant will communicate with patients, educate them on oral hygiene, and ensure compliance with infection‑control protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentists chairside during treatments.
• Prepare patient areas and instruments before procedures.
• Perform coronal polishing and dental X‑rays within 6 months of hire.
• Maintain accurate patient records in Epic.
• Sterilize instruments and manage supplies.
• Educate patients and answer questions with professionalism and empathy.
• Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure smooth daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at hire via AHA required. Coronal polishing and X‑ray competencies to be obtained within 6 months.
• Knowledge of radiography, coronal polishing, two‑handed and four‑handed dentistry.
• Previous experience in dentistry or as a dental assistant preferred.
• Support for physical demands: constant repetitive motion.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient‑centered care skills.
