Job Title: Community Health Peer
Department: 8G040:
Kinesiology - Health Promotion
Location: Lexington, KY
Salary: $20.00/hr
Type of Position: Temporary, Part-Time
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, 15 – 25 hours a week. Availability needed.

Job Summary

The objective of this position is to provide prevention services to youth, families, and community members in Fayette and Jefferson Counties, Kentucky. Supervised by the program director, the community health educator will work in schools and communities to facilitate prevention services based on the EMPOWER framework.

  • Responsibilities include collaborating with schools, parent‑teacher groups, civic and church organizations, and other youth and community organizations to provide tailored information about mentholated and flavored tobacco products. The educator will implement prevention programming, conduct community outreach, listening sessions, webinars, conferences, and professional development activities. Additional duties will be assigned by the program director as needed.

    Experience & Qualifications
    • Experience working with youth in school or community settings (preferred).
    • Experience in public speaking (preferred).
    • Highly motivated, energetic, dependable, and knowledgeable.
    • Experience working with diverse communities (preferred).

    Preferred education or experience:
    Pre‑employment criminal background check and employment background check, as required by school districts.
