Summary

Two assistant professor positions in the School of Information Science (College of Communication and Information). Nine‑month tenure‑track (regular title) position reporting directly to the School Director. Anticipated start date:
August 16, 2026.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Hold a Ph.D. (or be ABD) in information science, computer science, library science, or a related field at the interview time. Ph.D. required by August 2026.
  • Teach a 2‑2 graduate teaching load with opportunities across School programs; distribution of effort: 50% research, 45% teaching, 5% service.
  • Engage in teaching, advising, maintaining a personal research program, participating in professional activities, and serving on university committees. Opportunities exist to work with doctoral students in the College’s interdisciplinary Ph.D. program.
  • Demonstrate potential for leadership in scholarship and professional practice in areas such as community engagement and outreach, instruction and information literacy, archives and digital stewardship, and health and social information services.

The University of Kentucky School of Information Science is an interdisciplinary community of scholars and professionals. It offers online masters degrees in library science and information communication technology, an undergraduate major in information communication technology (including an online degree completion component), and an online minor in information studies. The Instructional Communication and Research group teaches university core courses in multimodal communication to incoming students.
