Physical Requirements
:
Job‑related travel including overnight stays; visiting clientele at sites throughout the county (including farms); standing/walking for long periods; handling of average‑weight objects up to 25 lbs.
Shift
:
Monday‑Friday (8:00 a.m. – 5:ໂp.m.) with evenings and weekends as needed. Most weeks will exceed 40 hours.
The Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences will develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of work based on locally identified needs that leads to improved quality of life for families and individuals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs focused on healthy choices, nurturing families, embracing aging, securing financial stability, promoting healthy homes and communities, accessing nutritious food, and empowering community leaders.
- Build expertise and serve as a resource in family and consumer sciences areas including food and nutrition; family resource management; human development and family relations; health, safety and wellness; leadership development; clothing and textiles; housing and the environment; home‑based and micro‑business.
- Implement educational programs that strengthen families and individuals.
- Develop and implement leadership programs such as Kentucky Extension Homemakers to build personal and organizational leadership skills.
- Support dissemination of practical information on agriculture, family consumer sciences, 4‑H, and community and rural development as outlined in KRS statutes 164.605 to 164.675.
- Perform national and state background checks; obtain a letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services confirming no findings of child abuse or neglect.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing with groups and individuals and through mass media.
- Proficiency in using computers for program delivery and management.
- Capability to visit clientele at sites throughout the county.
- Skill in planning and teaching educational programs.
- Leadership experience and the capacity to serve as a positive role model.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Family & Consumer Sciences or related fields such as Family & Consumer Sciences Education;
