HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT

The Center for Green Schools (CFGS) is seeking a Regional Program Manager, School Indoor Air Quality Program (Southwest) to support the success of a five-year, EPA-funded effort to improve indoor air quality (IAQ) and energy efficiency in K-12 public school systems.

In this role, you’ll work closely with the Program Director to build off CFGS’ long-running and successful models and provide regionally-relevant training and coaching for K-12 school system staff to develop plans for cleaner, healthier indoor air and energy efficiency in alignment with USGBC’s mission.

You’ll report to the Program Director and be part of a collaborative team where your contributions will help shape impactful outcomes. You’ll work closely with colleagues at the Center for Green Schools, including other Regional Program Managers to deliver high-impact initiatives .

Key Responsibilities

  • Make meaningful connections with regional school system staff working on indoor air quality (IAQ) and energy efficiency, within the southwestern region of the U.S. (AZ, CA, HI, NM, NV, OK, TX)
  • Develop and implement a plan for recruiting and retaining district participants, in partnership with the Program Director.
  • Support K-12 districts’ development of district-level Energy Efficient Indoor Air Quality (EE IAQ) Management Plans by providing regionally-relevant training (virtual and in-person), technical assistance, educational materials, and communications.
  • Travel within focal region to conduct meetings and trainings, including hosting/delivering in-person training to reach at least fifty district staff within focal region per year. Promote resources and opportunities at regional events and conferences, including speaking and presenting, as needed.
  • Build connections so that the majority of participants serve low-income, disadvantaged, Tribal, and/or small to medium-sized communities and districts.
  • Guide an annual regional cohort of ten district staff through the School Air Quality Fellowship program, helping them navigate training, IAQ management plan development, credentialing opportunities, 1-on-1 coaching, and mentorship from industry experts.
  • Support all logistics of the School Air Quality Fellowship program, including recruitment, coaching, training development, and the administration of travel and professional development reimbursements.
  • Manage mini-grant funding opportunity to help regional Fellows overcome barriers associated with developing and putting into practice comprehensive, district-level EE IAQ Management Plans.
  • Supervise graduate-level interns and 1-2 Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) Climate Corps Summer Fellows annually to support regional programming, school district outreach, and provide assistance to school districts.
  • Submit quarterly progress data to the Program Director to meet EPA reporting requirements.
  • Administer and analyze feedback surveys and other feedback tools with regional program participants, Fellows, and interns to ensure the program is achieving its aims.
  • Working with Program Director and other Center for Green Schools staff, inform the content and/or focus of EE IAQ virtual trainings, educational materials (guides, templates, fact sheets, case studies), and media communications based on regional examples, priorities, and stories.
