Overview
An automotive parts manufacturer in the Lexington, KY area is seeking a PLC Electrical Engineer to support operations. The role supports maintenance of low-voltage electrical equipment, equipment specification, technician training, and breakdown support as needed. Ideal candidates have experience with PLC brands such as Keyence, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, and Omron, and are comfortable maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying PLC programs. Prior experience in the automotive manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
This is a full-time, direct-hire/permanent role with benefits including health/dental/vision/life insurance, a company bonus, and 401(k) matching.
Base pay range: $70,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr.
Location:
Lexington, KY area.
- Plan, coordinate, direct, and perform preventative maintenance of electrical equipment; provide training to technicians on electrical safety and operating procedures
- Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and modify PLC programs; "error-proof" programs to minimize downtime
- Provide on-site support during emergency breakdowns, including potential travel to other company locations
- Wire industrial machine controls, troubleshoot programming and electrical issues
- Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections; ensure compliance with safety standards
- Read electrical schematics and manuals to resolve mechanical and electrical failures
- Recommend and specify equipment replacements; maintain appropriate inventory levels
- Provide engineering and fabrication support for jigs and fixtures
- Contribute to plant maintenance and maintain a safe, functional working environment
- Assist in the installation of new electrical systems and components
- Ensure all electrical equipment is calibrated and functioning optimally
- Other duties as assigned
- Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics
- Experience in a lean manufacturing environment; automotive industry preferred
- Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting skills (KEYENCE PLC experience highly preferred)
- Knowledge of poka-yoke or error-proofing
- Ability to travel occasionally to support other locations
- This position includes manufacturing and warehousing work environment and may require physical tasks as described (sitting, standing, lifting up to 25 pounds, etc.)
