Position OverviewCMTA, a Legence company, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with 8+ years of experience in Consulting Engineering. The position will design and oversee electrical systems—including power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, emergency power, UPS, renewable energy, fire alarm, low‑voltage systems (IT, safety, security, access control)—for bidding and construction across multiple projects. The candidate will work with a team of engineers to create energy‑efficient buildings for CMTA clients and will be located in our Lexington office.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and guide design and construction projects internally and with external clients and contractors.
- Provide guidance, support, mentorship, and leadership to staff engineers.
- Prepare, read, and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Professionally stamp drawings, prepare affidavits, etc.
- Interact with owners, clients, architects, and contractors; lead and guide meetings.
- Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to assigned tasks.
- Collaborate with other engineers and personnel to meet project deadlines.
- Research, design, and evaluate products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet project requirements.
- Design and specify system components to ensure compliance with project goals.
- Research and analyze client design requirements, manuals, and data to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance.
- Review contractor submittals (shop drawings, etc.) to ensure conformance with contract documents.
- 8+ years of MEP design experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited school.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with internal and external project management.
- Experience in MEP design and specifications.
- Experience managing and maintaining Owner and Architect relationships.
- Experience in Healthcare, Higher Education, K‑12, and Commercial sectors.
- Experience with Revit/AutoCAD.
