HDR Engineering seeks a Substation Coordinator to join our nationally ranked Power Delivery team. You will be an integral part of a team executing technical design on substation engineering projects ranging from simple device replacements to large greenfield design projects. This is a growth opportunity for a self‑directed individual eager to learn and face new challenges.

• Preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports and designs for electrical substations (Low, Medium and High Voltage) and substation systems under the direction of senior engineers.
• Design for both Protection and Control (Indoor) and Physical (Outdoor) aspects of high‑voltage substation design.
• Work under the direction of Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s).
• Prepare calculations, design sketches and redline drawings.
• Develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications using CAD and other tools.
• Typical designs include one‑line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, and substation grounding.
• Occasional short‑term travel (1–5 days) and infrequent longer‑term assignments may be required.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

• Ability to obtain your Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate within a reasonable time frame (e.g., 12 months).
• Electrical utility, consulting engineering, or similar substation design experience.
• Experience with Micro Station & AutoCAD.
• Familiarity or willingness to learn electrical design software such as SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or Easy Power.
• Local candidate.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
