Regional

Transportation Planning Business Class Leader

As the Regional Transportation Planning Business Class Leader for the Southeast, you will collaborate with area transportation planning business class managers, section managers, project managers, regional and national subject matter experts, business development and marketing teams to grow our multimodal transportation planning practice, mentor junior, mid‑level, and senior planners and engineers, and oversee staff and project execution.

  • Manage a team of transportation planners, engineers and related professionals in close coordination with Transportation Leadership.
  • Coordinate, mentor and develop regional transportation planning staff and deliver high‑quality deliverables that meet client needs and market drivers.
  • Lead staff, business development, pursuit and management of major transportation planning projects.
  • Engage in high‑profile project pursuits involving extensive client interactions in coordination with Area Business Development Leaders.
  • Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of large multidisciplinary transportation planning projects, including long‑range visioning, strategic and tactical planning, policy and systems planning, data analytics and modeling, multimodal and intermodal planning, and project development.
  • Lead scope development and execution in collaboration with technical professionals across transportation disciplines.
  • Drive open communication of current and projected production needs and collaborate with management to influence staffing and expertise levels.
  • Coordinate project staffing and workload management of the regional transportation planning group.
  • Participate in and provide input to the Annual Budgeting and Strategic Planning process in collaboration with all levels of leadership.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Planning, Engineering, or related discipline required.
  • Professional registration such as AICP, PE, PTOE, PTP, PMP preferred.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architecture, engineering or closely related field.
  • 10 years of experience in the related field.
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience.
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams.
  • Works cooperatively with other business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts.
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values.
  • Active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must.
