Position Summary
The selected candidate will be responsible for new product testing. These tests are carried out in accordance with good engineering practices and company procedures. The selected candidate will be responsible for learning all relevant test procedures, becoming an expert in all applicable test equipment and servicing and maintaining the test equipment. The incumbent, because of the high level of related experience and education, is able to carry out assignments with little direct day-to-day supervision.
Responsibilities- Sets up and runs testing requested by external and internal customers.
- Maintains thermal chambers, ovens, fluid circulators and other test equipment. Diagnoses issues and solves them, as well as routine maintenance.
- Estimates costs including labor hours, test hours, fixture costs, etc. for testing.
- Writes technical reports including test result, procedure and calculations.
- Designs test fixtures.
- Designs and builds new custom test equipment when needed.
- Identifies opportunities for testing improvements through evaluation of current test practices and methods. Learns customer test need trends to help identify opportunities.
- Performs root cause analysis on defective products using engineering principles and knowledge of manufacturing processes. Determine root cause using statistical methods (e.g., Design of Experiments (DOE), SPC).
- Communicates and coordinates testing activities with divisional team members and deals directly with customers as needed.
- Creates and maintains well-documented test procedure and results files in accordance with design control procedures.
- Maintains adherence to Company policies, safety/ergonomic standards and good housekeeping practices.
- Understands and implements the health, safety and environmental policies and integrate health, safety and environmental considerations into daily work activities.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering. 1 plus years of technical hands‑on experience is preferred.
- A strong mechanical aptitude for significant hands‑on work.
- Ability to read, understand, and create engineering drawings.
- A working knowledge of CAD is preferred, preferably Inventor, for designing test fixtures.
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required.
- Effective inter‑personal skills, ability to work in a team environment, and Project Management experience with the ability to manage his/her own priorities and workload.
