About the Opportunity

A respected infrastructure-focused engineering firm is seeking a Structural Practice Leader to oversee and grow its structural team in the Lexington market. This leadership opportunity is ideal for a Professional Engineer with a strong background in bridge and horizontal structure design
, team management, and public‑sector project delivery.

This role offers a chance to shape project strategy, mentor technical talent, and play a key role in the continued success of a collaborative and high‑performing group.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a local team of structural engineers and technical staff

Oversee project delivery across transportation structures, including bridges and supporting infrastructure

Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and state agency clients

Provide technical guidance and serve as a senior resource on complex design efforts

Collaborate with firm leadership on resource planning and workload management

Support business development through proposal input, pursuit strategy, and client engagement

Foster a culture of mentorship, performance, and continuous improvement

Manage project reviews, staff development, and performance evaluations

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited program

Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required

Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with a focus on bridges or horizontal structures

Familiarity with AASHTO, DOT standards, and local agency project requirements

Previous experience overseeing project teams and coordinating multidisciplinary collaboration

Strong communication skills with an ability to interface with clients, internal stakeholders, and project partners

Background working with or for state transportation agencies is highly preferred

Supervisory or department‑level leadership experience is a plus
