Physical Requirements:

May require standing or sitting for > 5 hrs at a time.

Shift Varies. Satellite is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Provides coverage for days off and vacation leaves. Shifts may include Weekdays: 7am 3:30pm, 9:30am 6pm, 2pm 10pm, 10pm 8am;
Weekends: 7am
-3:30pm, 11am 7pm, 7pm-7am.

Job Summary:

In this position the candidate will provide pharmaceutical care to patients admitted to the UK Health Care Kentucky Children's Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and perfecting medication orders.
• Reviewing drug profiles to ensure appropriateness of therapy.
• Contacting and conferring with physicians and other practitioners to optimize medication therapy.
• Actively participating in all aspects of the medication reconciliation process and promotion of economically conscientious use of medication.
• Daily activities may include active participation on patient care rounds, review of patient profiles, and provision of pharmacokinetic evaluation of therapeutic regimens.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

• Knowledge of inpatient hospital pharmacy practice.
• Strong clinical skills.
• Ability to prioritize.

Qualifications and Preferences

• Hospital Experience preferred.
• Pediatric Pharmacy Experience highly preferred.
