Physical RequirementsRegular sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods; intermittent exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste and blood borne/airborne pathogens.
ShiftMonday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Emergencies may require call/text or onsite response after hours as needed.
Job SummaryResponsibilities include collaborating with the Chemical Safety Officer (CSO) to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive Chemical and General Lab Safety Program designed to facilitate campus research initiatives while protecting faculty, staff, students, and visitors and the environment from the adverse effects of research involving chemical hazards. The CSO Assistant will manage the annual laboratory inspection program, oversee lab demographic data management, onboard new faculty and lab groups, oversee the lab clearance program, support the ARCM and resolve findings from IACUC inspections in research lab areas, support academic and teaching lab coordinators, assist the CSO in developing and providing training and outreach materials, consult with researchers, and provide support services to lab groups.

Preferred Education / Experience- MS + 4 years or BS + 6 years in chemistry, research lab work experience, or chemical/laboratory safety and compliance work experience.
- Driver’s License preferred.
- Eligibility for CHO, CHMM, ASP/CSP, or other relevant safety credentials.
