Job Summary
:

You must be a current UK student to apply. This position is located off‑campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with the University of Kentucky. The number one goal of everyone in our team is to make our clients exceptionally happy. The Field Engineer plays an important role in making sure that happens.

Responsibilities & Tasks
:

  • Work on and resolve escalated Helpdesk tickets; delight clients with friendly, quick and helpful experience.
  • Provide advanced on‑site troubleshooting, installation, and removal of equipment.
  • Maintain on‑site hardware and support.

Use of Our Ticketing System
:

  • Use Ticketing System to resolve Helpdesk tickets and service requests.
  • Manage and record all work in the Ticketing System.
  • Ensure client documentation is well maintained; split multi‑issue tickets into individual tickets.
  • Prevent tickets from becoming stale.

Project Work
:

  • Assist the projects team as needed on‑site.

Communication, Reporting & Risk
:

  • Create and maintain documentation for on‑site processes.
  • Escalate tickets requiring VP support.
  • Communicate ticket status, changes, or outages to clients.
  • Submit timesheets and expense reports per SOP.
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate potential risks.

Team Work
:

  • Follow schedule from VP or Service Coordinator – follow SOPs.
  • Follow security procedures and monitor for security issues.
  • Suggest improvements and contribute to innovative change.
  • Undertake additional duties as required.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
:

  • Problem‑solving ability and passion.
  • Excellent communication and listening.
  • Advanced knowledge of support tools and technology.
  • Advanced understanding of operating systems, business applications, printers, and networks.
  • Advanced diagnosis of hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Experience with structured cabling and tidy cable management.
  • Experience installing and maintaining networking and VoIP equipment.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Platform.
  • Clean workstation installations with tidy cable management.
  • Vendor coordination for hardware/software troubleshooting.
  • Fast typing while on phone.
  • Strong desire to deliver amazing client experience.
  • Advanced IT application, software & hardware knowledge.
  • Ability to translate technical terms to user language.
  • Driver's licence and reliable transportation.
  • Adaptability to fast‑paced IT world.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
:

  • Experience with ticketing systems/RMM tools and PSA software.
  • Remote tool support experience.
  • Experience handling technical service tickets.
  • Professional IT certifications (Microsoft MCP, MCSA, MCSE, ITIL, ITSM, etc.).
  • Client experience certifications (Helpdesk Habits, etc.).
  • Experience with helpdesk or managed service provider / IT support.
