Job SummaryThe Public Health Analytics and Informatics department is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist to join our Medicaid Analytics team. This position is contracted with the KY Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) and is designed to support program evaluation research and improve the effectiveness, economy, and the quality of services delivered to Medicaid beneficiaries. The QA Tester will work alongside the Senior Data Quality Engineer to test SQL programs, Tableau dashboards, and R scripts to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of data solutions.
This role is integral to maintaining the quality of data analytics and visualization products used in biomedical research and healthcare decision-making as necessitated by the principal investigator and contract stakeholder.
- Work with the Senior Data Quality Engineer to test SQL programs, Tableau dashboards, and R scripts.
- Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of data solutions.
- Maintain the quality of data analytics and visualization products used in biomedical research and healthcare decision-making.
- Document and report defects, track issues, and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries
- Experience with Tableau for data visualization and dashboard testing
- Knowledge of R and Python programming languages and relevant testing libraries (e.g., testthat, pytest)
- Familiarity with QA methodologies, tools, and processes
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high‑quality results
- Experience working with tracking tools (Jira, Azure Dev Ops, Zentrack, Bugzilla, and Git)
- Experience handling healthcare claims data, CMS data, and HIPAA/PHI data
- Storytelling and stakeholder translation (turning technical reports to leadership‑ready summaries)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Biomedical Informatics, Data Science or a related field
- 5 years of related experience
- Experience testing SQL queries, Tableau dashboards, and R scripts
- Experience in the biomedical or healthcare industry
- Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing concepts
- Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, pytest)
- Preferred: 7+ years of experience in software testing, with a focus on data analytics or business intelligence solutions
Full‑time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; additional hours as needed. The position is currently remote with occasional in‑person meetings in Frankfort, KY (not mandatory).
