Stites & Harbison, PLLC, a full-service law firm, is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join our Lexington, Kentucky office. Under the supervision of attorneys, the Litigation Legal Assistant provides moderate to complex support to our Torts and Insurance Practice service group. This role involves trial preparation, court filings, document production, drafting legal documents and correspondence, and assisting with depositions.
The position may include overlapping paralegal responsibilities and requires a high level of professionalism, organization, and attention to detail.
This is not a remote position. Only candidates within commuting distance of Lexington, KY will be considered.
Responsibilities- Prepare correspondence, draft pleadings, contracts, trial binders, and other legal documents related to the practice group
- Assist in the management of litigation cases and/or large projects, including extensive document organization, document retrieval, document production, preparing for depositions, preparing deposition exhibits, digesting deposition transcripts and preparing trial exhibits
- Communicate with clients via phone and email; schedule appointments and maintain organized case files
- Transcribe, proofread, and finalize legal documents and correspondence
- Assist with billing processes and work directly with the accounting department
- Ensure accurate indexing, filing, and maintenance of legal documents using litigation support software and other systems
- Maintain strict client confidentiality
- Perform additional administrative and job-related duties as assigned
- Minimum of five (5) years of litigation experience, from case inception through trial and post-trial activities
- This role may function as a hybrid legal assistant/paralegal position
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, internet, and litigation support software
- Strong legal writing and editing skills, including preparation of legal documents and correspondence
- Ability to compile, code, categorize, calculate, audit, and verify information
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in situations with limited standardization
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships in a collaborative and diverse environment
