Pay Range: $46.55 - $69.85

Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering.

Essential Functions
  • Manage the Department of Engineering annual budget for salaries, contracts, utilities, capital equipment and maintenance supplies. Manage all phases of capital equipment process, inclusive of schedule, invoices, Strata project prioritization and Strata project submission. Report on monthly budget variances.
  • Manage central office support for Engineering job change requests and payroll actions. Manage central office support for Strategic Sourcing purchasing and contract administration.
  • Manage contracts for Engineering services including landscaping and grounds, elevators, kitchen equipment, fire and life safety systems, electrical and HVAC systems, and plumbing systems. Manage contract labor work forces including painting, drywall, ceilings, flooring, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and plumbing.
  • Coordinate project expenses with the Facilities Planning Department. Assist Facilities Planning with the development of project budgets.
  • Develop a preventative maintenance supply budget and evaluate supply chain contracting opportunities.
  • Available 24/7 to Engineering managers and on-call staff to assist with evaluating building system failures and coordinate repair responses.
  • Manage the Engineering risk assessment and life safety impairment process and coordinate impairments with EH&S, Risk Management, Factory Mutual, City of Winston Salem Fire Department and Medical Center contractors.
  • Analyze electric, natural gas, fuel oil, and water utility expenses and report variances and unfavorable trends. Assist the Director and Associate Director with evaluation of energy savings and conservation measures.
  • Maintain departmental policies on the institution’s shared drive and consult with EH&S and Compliance for annual policy reviews and updates.
  • Manage Engineering employee safety training and consult with EH&S to ensure employee training compliance.
  • Manage compliance documentation for all regulatory authorities and accreditation organizations including CMS, The Joint Commission, AAALAC, the City of Winston Salem, Forsyth County, Department of Health and Human Services, and applicable state Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
  • Manage the CMS computerized maintenance management system. Ensure communications and work order submissions from the Service Response Center remain operational 24/7. Ensure that the CMS online network is operational 24/7. Expand the CMS work order system to new building acquisitions including Lexington Medical Center and Wilkes Regional Medical Center.
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop staff. Conduct staff performance evaluations.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending seminars, reviewing engineering publications and participating in professional societies.

    Work Environment

    Subject to temperature extremes, dirty and dusty places, confined spaces, extreme noise conditions, possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. May require protective equipment such as eye/face protection, gloves, mask and gowns to be worn. Available 24/7 as needed at any Wake Forest Medical Center location.
