Education:
MSN or Master’s in related field with accompanying bachelor’s in Nursing - Required Related
Experience:
3 years - Required License/Registration/Certification: Active Kentucky RN or compact state RN license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), or active compact state RN license that is in good standing and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment
- Shift: Day shift primarily, other shifts and weekends as needed
The essential functions for this position include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50–100 pounds on a daily basis and 25–50 pounds frequently; as well as stand, walk and sit for long periods of time. The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
Job SummaryThis position is responsible for Staff Development within the Oncology Service line and other areas as needed and assigned. The Staff Development Specialist is responsible for education and staff development of hospital nursing staff. The role provides oversight, guidance, education, and skills to onboard new clinical nursing staff and manage ongoing competency and professional development of nurses. Major responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating educational strategies and programs;
identifying trends in patient outcomes to determine performance improvement activities; providing support and clinical expertise to facilitate progress toward meeting performance improvement goals; integrating research, evidence‑based nursing knowledge, and resource management into practice; participating in developing health‑care policy and related education; facilitating transition to practice for new graduates; serving as a clinical resource and change agent; and demonstrating excellent leadership, teaching, interpersonal skills and an understanding of organization and systems.
