- MSN or Master’s Degree in a related field with an accompanying Baccalaureate in Nursing
- 3 years
- Active Kentucky RN or compact state RN license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), or active compact state RN license in good standing and valid AHA Basic Life Support certification for at least 6 months after employment
The essential functions for this position include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50–100 pounds on a daily basis and 25–50 pounds frequently; as well as stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time. The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
ShiftDay shift primarily, but other shifts and weekends as needed to meet the needs of the department.
Job SummaryThis position is responsible for Staff Development within the Oncology Service line and other areas as needed and assigned. The Staff Development Specialist oversees education and staff development of hospital nursing staff, providing oversight, guidance, education, and skills to onboard new clinical nursing staff and manage ongoing competency and professional development of nurses.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational strategies and programs.
- Identify trends in patient outcomes to determine performance improvement activities.
- Provide support and clinical expertise to facilitate/coordinate progress toward meeting performance improvement goals.
- Integrate research and evidence-based nursing knowledge and resource management into the practice environment.
- Participate in the development of health care policy and related education within the institution and community.
- Assist in facilitating the transition to practice for the new graduate.
- Serve as a clinical resource and change agent.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership, teaching, interpersonal skills, and an understanding of organization and systems.
- MSN and 3 years of oncology experience preferred.
- Previous experience as an educator preferred.
