This OpportunityWSP’s Cultural Resources Management Team is located across the United States. We have immediate openings for on‑call Field Archaeologists with a long‑term Phase III archaeological data recovery project at five multi‑component Pre‑Contact archaeological sites. Candidates local to Arkansas, Missouri, eastern Oklahoma, and eastern Kansas are ideal, but all qualified applicants will be considered.
Your Impact- Assist with multiple Phase III data recovery projects (with additional work at Phase I and II levels), including:
- archeological test unit and shovel test excavation
- excavation of cultural features
- recovery and identification of archaeological artifacts and other materials
- use archaeological field forms to record archaeological data, including type and number of artifacts, soil color (Munsell) and soil textures, and other relevant information
- Work effectively as part of a team
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Strictly abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Undergraduate degree in anthropology/archaeology or a closely related field
- Archaeological field school or similar archaeological field experience
- Self‑motivated, physically able to conduct all aspects of fieldwork in all weather conditions, and able to follow instructions
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with Pre‑Contact archaeological sites in Arkansas, eastern Oklahoma, and the surrounding region
- Pre‑Contact lithic artifact identification and analysis
