FAMILY ADVOCATE

Residential Children Focus

Provide trauma-informed advocacy and support for children who have witnessed and/or been exposed to intimate partner violence, with duties focused on the delivery of age-appropriate safety planning and healing services for children living at the emergency shelter.

• 60% Provide individual and group support using multiple methods and modalities.
• Facilitate case management, crisis counseling, safety planning, legal advocacy and follow up services for victims of domestic violence. Support victims in identification of their unique healing and sufficiency goals, and deliver related services to help victims overcome barriers to these goals.
• 20% Participate in meetings and events related to agency, programming, case reviews, and community-based partnerships. Complete/maintain KCADV Certified Domestic Violence Advocate training, with requirement of completing Level One Certification within one year of employment and maintaining necessary continuing annual education to maintain certification throughout tenure in role.
• 15% Track and maintain regular statistical information in case notes and Victim Service Provider database for submission to supervisor by the monthly deadline.
• 5% Other duties as assigned related to delivery of services for victims of domestic violence.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s Degree in related field with working knowledge of program issues preferred. Level One ZeroV Certification and equivalent experience may be satisfactory.
• Other:
  Fluency in languages other than English and cultural knowledge are a plus. Must provide own transportation and/or have a valid driver’s license as appropriate per job needs. Complete KCADV certification within first year of employment.
