Mini-Bus Driver job at YMCA OF CENTRAL KY. Lexington, KY.
Provides safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere. May also provide support in other areas as assigned.
Schedule:
M-F 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm. Additional hours may be available after driving the bus as an after school group leader (Monday through Friday until approximately 6 p.m.). After school group leader starting rate is $14.00/hour.
- Drive a 13-passenger Mini Bus over designated routes safely and in accordance with time schedules, YMCA policies, procedures, and state laws.
- Pick up and discharge riders at established stops, under varying weather conditions, and report incidents affecting passenger safety.
- Complete thorough before-and-after trip checks each day, recording all information (tires, lights, signals, mirrors, gauges, wiper blades, safety restraints, fuel, debris).
- Record gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms.
- Clean the bus each day, including interior, debris removal, sweeping, mopping floor, wiping upholstery, and cleaning headlights as needed.
- Perform emergency bus evacuation drills as required by Kentucky Administration Regulations.
- Promote safety at all times by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked and ensuring bus rules are announced and followed.
- Develop friendly, positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, and children; communicate regularly with other staff members and the supervisor.
- Minimum one-year work experience as a bus driver.
- Hold a current driver's license not suspended or revoked during the last five years and no accident resulting in a death.
- At least 21 years old.
- Pass a background check per 922 KAR 186.018 and driver's history records through the state transportation agency.
- Knowledge of rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus).
- Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR and First Aid.
- Desire and ability to work with children; track record of building relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents.
Ability to safely drive a bus for long periods; respond to emergency situations; visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental hazards.
