The Shipping Clerk is responsible for the accurate processing and management of incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring the timely flow of materials and products within the organization. This role involves verifying shipments, preparing documentation, maintaining inventory records, and ensuring compliance with safety and shipping regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Accurately pick, pack, and label orders for shipment.
- Prepare and complete shipping documents (bills of lading, shipping labels, and other necessary forms).
- Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners to schedule timely pickups and deliveries.
- Track shipments to ensure on‑time delivery and resolve any issues related to delayed or lost shipments.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations in all shipping and receiving tasks, especially when handling hazardous materials. Follow all company safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with general warehouse duties such as stocking shelves, organizing inventory, and maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
- Operate forklifts and other material‑handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Work closely with other departments—including purchasing, production, and customer service—to address issues related to shipments, inventory levels, or order fulfillment.
- Perform other duties as required by the Company.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and shipping software.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform accurate data entry and record‑keeping.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office) and shipping platforms.
- Knowledge of shipping regulations and procedures for handling hazardous materials.
- Prior experience driving/operating a forklift.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting and moving up to 100 lbs, frequent standing and walking throughout the shift.
- Use of manual or powered material‑handling equipment, such as pallet jacks or forklifts.
- Frequent use of hands and arms for picking, packing, labeling, and entering data.
- Warehouse setting with varying temperatures, noise levels, and the presence of machinery and moving equipment.
- Adherence to all company safety policies, including proper use of PPE and safe handling of hazardous materials.
- Close collaboration with warehouse and production team members to meet deadlines and manage the flow of materials.
