We are currently accepting applications for a grant funded non-benefits eligible position of:
Senior Services Municipal Assistant
Hourly Rate: $24.25
10-12 hours/week
Non-benefited position
The REQUIRED Town of Lexington application must be received in the
Town's Human Resource Department.
GENERAL
SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Senior Services Director or designee, the Senior Services Municipal
Assistant will work closely with Senior Services staff to support the needs of the Human Services
Department as they relate to program and service provision to seniors and other community
members. The Assistant will also support the promotion and outreach activities of the Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Provide customer service with phone calls and walk-ins. Assist seniors to sign up for programs and
access services.
* Support Senior Services Coordinator and Department Assistant on program promotion, coordination,
reminders, and logistics.
* Performs other basic office functions such as processing incoming and outgoing mail, maintaining
files and records, and troubleshooting office equipment.
* Communicate with the custodial staff regarding programming needs as they arise.
* Support and participate in events in the Community Center, as requested.
* Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None.
MINIMUM
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma required. Associate's degree or equivalent preferred. Bi-lingual,
Mandarin/Cantonese preferred. Broad knowledge of social services with 1-2 years' experience working
in the field. Previous education and/or experience with seniors preferred
ADVANCED
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
None.
QUALIFICATIONS:

The ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions,
and recommend courses of action.
The ability to work successfully as a team member with good judgment, interpersonal and customer
service skills.
Excellent oral, written, and digital communications skills. Experience preparing presentations and
speaking in front of groups.
Knowledge of local, state and federal rules and regulations.
Preferred qualifications include a familiarity with social media, technology, and Canva to promote
programs and events.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Office and administrative duties are conducted in normal office environment, not subject to extreme
variations of temperature, noise, odors, etc. Work is subject to frequent interruptions with demands that
may require immediate response.
Office work generally includes physical activities such as moving, reaching, pulling, grasping, bending,
and transporting materials and other items (of 25 pounds or less) around the office. Preparing spaces for
meetings / programs/ events is sometimes part of this role. Use of phones, computers, meeting room
technology, and other types of small office equipment is required for this position. Must be able to remain
in a stationary position for long periods of time.
