Job Type: W2 Contract Background/Need:
The Facility Services Department (FSD) is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the Laboratory complex in support of the research mission. It also furnishes the Laboratory’s design, engineering, and construction needs, addressing its ever-changing program requirements. The department’s overarching goal is to provide prompt, quality service in a wide spectrum of responsibilities in compliance with state and federal codes, and manage many services that impact the workplace quality of life for the Laboratory’s population.
Responsibilities- Directly reporting to the Manager of Facilities Planning and assisting with strategic planning initiatives. Conduct briefings for internal clients and Laboratory Leadership.
- Develop conceptual drawings and coordinate feasibility studies of master planning documents. Working collaboratively with the internal design team, Environmental Health and Safety, Information Services Department, Security, and other service units to provide a thorough planning level scope of work, as needed.
- Work with clients on design concepts, defining project requirements and high-level construction scope; evaluating operational impacts of the project, including cost analysis and coordination with master planning.
- Establish effective working relationships with client groups to ensure timely planning of information and communication flow. Teaming with Project Management for the execution of projects to provide the highest level of customer service possible.
- Provide data input into the space management software, FM Systems, to ensure the information is accurate and up to date; producing periodic reporting. As well as supporting the Space Management Modernization Initiative to upgrade the space data within FM Systems and internal processes.
- Support space management change initiatives; produce meeting minutes, visuals, and presentations to provide documentation and briefings for the Space Utilization Board.
- Bachelor’s Degree required in interior design, architecture, planning, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of prior relevant experience
- Familiarity with building codes.
- Demonstrated ability to provide creative and innovative solutions.
- Process improvement experience and implementing change.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, FM Systems, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word MS Office.
- Experience in management of complex and diverse project planning and execution, strategic planning on institutional, division, or departmental level.
- Knowledge of and ability to understand design, architecture, engineering, and construction principles and concepts.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with all levels of management and consultants.
- Experience with institutional or corporate transition and organizational development.
- Knowledge of Power BI and different reporting tools to support space data management.
- Had prior experience in designing and planning for secure and closed area facilities.
Bachelor’s with 5 years of relevant work experience. Work Authorization: US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.
