Requirements

Job Overview

The Seasonal Application Reader supports the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by conducting comprehensive, holistic reviews of undergraduate applications within a highly selective admissions environment. This role is critical to ensuring that each applicant is evaluated thoughtfully, consistently, and in alignment with Georgetown’s institutional values, admissions philosophy, and established review standards.

Readers are responsible for assessing a wide range of academic and contextual factors, including curriculum rigor, academic achievement, extracurricular engagement, personal qualities, and the opportunities available to each applicant. The position requires strong analytical judgment, the ability to synthesize complex information, and a deep commitment to fairness, consistency, and confidentiality. Readers must quickly develop an understanding of Georgetown’s evaluative framework and apply it consistently across a large volume of applications.

This is a part-time position, working a maximum of 20 hours per week during the application review period between October and March. Work is primarily conducted remotely using a web-based admissions information system, with required participation in training and calibration sessions.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Conduct holistic, contextual reviews of undergraduate applications using Georgetown’s admissions criteria
  • Evaluate academic preparation, intellectual curiosity, and personal contributions within context
