Senior Maintenance Engineer
As the Senior Maintenance Engineer, you are responsible for the strategic leadership and execution of maintenance operations. This position demands visionary leadership, a deep understanding of engineering principles, and a proven track record in optimizing equipment uptime, cost‑effectiveness, and safety. The successful candidate will drive operational excellence, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure alignment of maintenance strategies with broader business objectives.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute a comprehensive maintenance strategy aligned with long‑term business goals, focusing on equipment reliability, cost optimisation, and risk mitigation.
- Build and nurture a high‑performing maintenance team through effective leadership, coaching and talent development, fostering a collaborative and results‑oriented culture.
- Oversee daily maintenance operations, ensuring adherence to procedures, key performance indicators and safety protocols.
- Maintain electrical, industrial controls, mechanical, hydraulic, compressed air, boiler, ammonia refrigeration, waste‑treatment and building infrastructure within a high‑speed CPG environment.
- Develop and manage maintenance budgets, optimising resource allocation and ensuring cost‑effectiveness.
- Establish and monitor key performance metrics to measure maintenance effectiveness, identify improvement areas and drive continuous performance enhancement.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation by identifying and implementing new technologies, processes and best practices to enhance maintenance efficiency and reliability.
- Utilise continuous improvement methodologies (5S, Lean, TPM) to reduce downtime and optimise resource utilisation.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, environmental standards and quality requirements, proactively managing compliance risks.
- Build and maintain relationships with external service providers, optimising contract terms and performance.
- Identify, prioritise and execute capital expenditure projects to enhance equipment and facilities, aligning with long‑term maintenance goals.
- Lead root‑cause analysis investigations, implement corrective actions and preventive measures to minimise downtime.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Collaboration:
works independently while demonstrating teamwork and collaboration. - Communication: collaborates clearly with operators, helpers and team members in person and via email.
- Team leadership: proven ability to build, motivate and develop high‑performance maintenance teams.
- Project management: able to handle multiple tasks with changing priorities.
- Engineering expertise: in‑depth knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and other relevant engineering disciplines.
- Quality control: keen eye for detail.
- Risk management:
understanding of maintenance risks and ability to implement mitigation strategies. - Physical abilities: meets static pull strength of 84 lbs, push 60 lbs, lift 50 lbs and can mount/dismount a sit‑down forklift.
- Technical skills: basic computer skills to operate production‑related software and maintain digital records.
- Compliance: understanding and adherence to GMP regulations and procedures.
- Systems proficiency: ability to utilise CMMS systems (e.g., EMaint) for work‑order management and maintenance planning.
- Continuous improvement: maintains process optimisation.
Location:
High Point, NC | Salary: $70,000–$80,000 per year
