Position Title
Pharmacy Technician – Hourly – Various Clinics – Reports to Pharmacist – Direct Reports:
None
Under the direct supervision of the pharmacist on duty, this position is responsible for timely and accurate interpretation and processing of prescriptions presented by patients; ensuring pharmacy supplies are stocked; maintaining organization and cleanliness of the workstation; and maintaining confidentiality pertaining to PHI (Patient Health Information) by following HIPAA guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods and read and understand the English language.
- Maintain confidentiality of records and effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple changing priorities.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority and function as part of a team.
- Possess excellent attention to detail.
At least one year of retail pharmacy experience.
Additional Skills (Required)- Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software programs necessary to execute daily tasks.
- Prior FQHC or public health experience.
High School Diploma or GED certificate required.
Certification(s)- National certification preferred from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
- Pharmacy technician registration with North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP).
- Obtain information to help fill prescriptions.
- Count medications and measure out amounts to ensure customers receive exactly what their doctors have prescribed.
- Mix and prepare medications.
- Package prescriptions for customers, ensuring they are labeled correctly with dosage information.
- Process retail transactions and handle money.
- Process insurance claims as part of filling a prescription.
- Understand and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Perform accurate cash management/transaction procedures or refer customers appropriately.
- Participate in pharmacy QI initiative.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
