American Traveler is hiring an RN - ICU with 2+ years of ICU experience and NC or compact RN licensure for a 12-hour night shift position in a critical care unit.
Details- 16-bed ICU with an average daily census of 10
- Treats MICU-type patients including ARDS, sepsis, COPD, DKA, and stroke
- RN to patient ratio of 2:1 for ICU patients and 3:1 for IMC patients
- CNA support typically available, with 1-2 assisting the unit
- 12-hour night shift schedule, , 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Floating required to Med Surg (4:1 ratio) and ED as a resource (no assignment)
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and GE monitors
- Unit-specific equipment includes Bair Hugger, Verathon Bladder Scanner, and Blanketrol machine
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Minimum 12 months of core specialty experience within the last year required
- Skilled in arterial line management, vasoactive medication titration, ventilator management and weaning, and chest tube management
- Strong critical thinking skills required
- Epic EMR experience required
- One professional reference dated within the last year required from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Provide critical care nursing support in a fast-paced ICU environment
- Assist and mentor newer nursing staff, as the unit has many new graduate nurses on nights
- 24/7 respiratory therapy, intensivist, and hospitalist support available
- Charge nurse and resource nurse support available on the unit
- Phlebotomy support available; PICC team available during partial hours
- Royal blue scrub color required
- Free parking provided
- Orientation includes general facility orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- First-time travelers considered if they have strong ICU experience
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- Previous AHSE employees must be separated from any permanent position for at least 1 year before eligibility
