Obtains personal information from inmates during the booking process and completes data entry. Performs clerical work at the Booking desk, and other secure areas of the detention center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Performs clerical work in the secure areas of the detention center (i.e. Booking), working side by side with correctional officers that will focus on inmate control.
- Communicates directly with inmates to obtain personal information involved in the booking process.
- Performs data entry and ensures compliance with inmate classification issues.
- Conducts audits of inmate booking jackets and electronic inmate records.
- Updates booking records for inmates returning from court.
- Utilizes digital camera to capture photographs of inmates.
- Monitors the booking desk along with correctional officers and informs the correctional officers when they observe out of the ordinary situations.
- Answers the telephone; screens callers; provides information as requested or forwards calls to appropriate staff person; takes messages as necessary; greets and assists office visitors. This includes telephone conversations with the public answering questions concerning inmate information.
- Performs general administrative duties as required, including typing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, sending and receiving faxes, and establishing and maintaining filing systems.

Skills:
- Administrative practices.
- Written and verbal communication via in-person, phone and email contact.
- Organization and time management practices to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
- Detailed oriented.
- Multi-tasking such as handling multiple calls at one time.
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Education/
Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of professional clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Physical Requirements
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
- Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, fingering, standing, walking, repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, climbing and balancing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
