  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant teaching content or related area of discipline with previous student teaching experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Assigned athletic coaching experience at the high school level (or higher level)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid SC Teaching License (any applicable area) Must have current government issued identification

Terms of Employment

8 Hours/190 Days Certified Salary Schedule (plus Relevant Coaching Supplements) The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.

General Summary

Under general supervision, plans, instructs and assesses student learning through standards-based curricula for assigned courses and to assist in other school programs as assigned. Additionally, as Head Athletic Coach, the employee will be responsible for leading and managing the school's assigned athletic program, focusing on developing student-athletes both on and off the field, court or track as well as fostering a positive and disciplined team culture.

Functions
  • Supports and upholds the mission, vision and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One towards increased outcomes for students.
  • Interacts, communicates and collaborates with all stakeholders effectively.
  • Establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive working and learning environment.
  • Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.
  • Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Requests and maintains materials needed for daily responsibilities and essential functions; provides for safe storage and proper use of all tools, equipment and materials.
  • Demonstrates a variety of appropriate teaching skills to foster independent, creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers.
  • Designs and facilitates engaging, high level, sophisticated learning experiences and applications appropriate to prepare students for a 21st century global, knowledge-based society.
  • Teaches concepts and skills in the relevant subject matter that facilitate learning and contribute to students' academic and social/emotional development; administers the classroom curriculum for physical education and/or health as prescribed by the state standards.
  • Assists in the planning, organization, and implementation of programs as assigned.
  • Demonstrates and evaluates the effectiveness of both formative and summative assessments; monitors student progression in classwork and assists students with all phases of the course; observes student work to make criticisms and corrections; evaluates contributions in teams.
  • Collaborates with school and district personnel to evaluate effectiveness of curriculum and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Networks with school personnel regarding scheduling issues.
  • Prepares various records and forms such as lesson plans, daily and weekly activity plans, assessments, material requisitions, discipline reports, etc.
  • Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  • Organizes classrooms and other settings for daily instruction.
  • Provide leadership to the assigned athletic program, fostering a positive and motivating environment for both players and assistant coaches
  • Develop and communicate a clear vision for the team’s success
  • Implement effective coaching strategies to enhance players’ skills, both individually and as a team
  • Monitor and assess the performances of players, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement
  • Plan and conduct regular team practices, focusing on skill development, game strategies, and physical conditioning
