Job SummaryAs a part of the management team, the Registered Dietitian will support the health and performance of VMI’s Corps of Cadets through individualized nutrition counseling, group education, and wellness programming. This position reports to the General Manager and is a key member of the campus community, working in close partnership with dining services, athletics, and health services to deliver impactful, student‑centered nutrition initiatives.
EssentialFunctions Wellness & Counseling – 40%
- Provide one‑on‑one nutritional assessment and counseling for cadets, addressing topics such as chronic disease management, weight management, food allergies, performance goals, and disordered eating.
- Track progress and develop personalized nutrition plans in alignment with cadet goals.
- Provide group education for student organizations, athletic teams, and wellness events.
- Coordinate wellness table events in partnership with dining services, health services, and athletics.
- Collaborate with athletics staff and coaches to deliver targeted sports nutrition guidance for cadet athletes.
- Focus on performance fueling, hydration strategies, recovery nutrition, and game‑day preparation.
- Support nutrition‑related needs aligned with training schedules and competition cycles.
- Provide guidance on allergen management, nutritional transparency, and dietary accommodations across dining platforms.
- Partner with culinary and operations teams to enhance menus based on nutrition standards and cadet feedback.
- Deliver training for dining staff, including the Aller Train allergen awareness program.
- Organize and execute wellness tabling and engagement events in partnership with dining and campus partners.
- Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN).
- 2+ years of relevant experience in a higher education, clinical, or athletic setting.
- Current licensure in State of Virginia.
- Strong interest or experience in sports nutrition preferred.
- Collaborative, self‑directed, and independently motivated.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a student‑first mindset.
- Strong planning and organizational skills to consistently meet deadlines.
