Education/ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience in the medical field.
Licensure, Certification, and/or RegistrationFollowing completion of orientation, employee is qualified to perform the functions of an Attendant - Operating Room. Completes 8 hours of required continuing education annually. CPR certification.
Essential Functions- Assists the registered nurse with teaching patient and family about condition.
- Demonstrates ability to perform CPR skills, if applicable.
- Serves as preceptor, if applicable.
- Transports patients appropriately and safely.
- Cleans operating room suites according to unit specific policy and procedure.
- Maintains adequate linen/clothing level inventory.
- Ensures that equipment/instrumentation/patient positioning is appropriate for age.
- Maintains refrigerator log daily. Ensures that log is maintained and any variances reported to the Unit Coordinator or Director.
- Works with patients throughout the life cycle (infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and older adult).

Work EnvironmentLifts patients. Possible exposure to infections and contagious diseases, hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes. Possible exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation. Handles emergency or crisis situation. Subject to many interruptions. Required to wear eye and face protection, non-sterile medical gloves or utility gloves and moisture-resistant barrier gown.
