JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Dietitian, part of the management team, will support VMI’s cadets' health and performance through nutrition counseling, education, and wellness programs. Reporting to the General Manager, you'll work closely with dining, athletics, and health services to implement student-centered nutrition initiatives. Performs related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Wellness & Counseling – 40%
- Provide individualized nutritional assessments and counseling on topics like disease management, weight, allergies, performance, and disordered eating.
- Track progress and develop personalized nutrition plans.
- Conduct group education sessions for student organizations, athletic teams, and wellness events.
- Coordinate wellness events with dining, health, and athletics departments.
Athletic Nutrition Support – 40%
- Collaborate with athletic staff and coaches on sports nutrition guidance.
- Focus on fueling, hydration, recovery, and game-day nutrition.
- Support nutrition needs aligned with training and competitions.
Dining Services & Program Support – 20%
- Advise on allergen management, transparency, and dietary accommodations.
- Partner with culinary teams to improve menus based on nutrition standards and feedback.
- Train dining staff, including Aller Train allergen awareness.
- Organize wellness engagement events with campus partners.
Qualifications:
- Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN)
- 2+ years relevant experience in higher education, clinical, or athletic settings
- Current licensure in Virginia
- Interest or experience in sports nutrition preferred
- Collaborative, self-motivated, and organized
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a student-first approach
