Position OverviewWe are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing outstanding customer service. The ideal candidate will be proficient in all standard pharmacy technician duties, with a strong interest or proven experience in non-sterile (and/or sterile) compounding . Experience in compounding is a significant plus and will be prioritized.
Key Responsibilities- Assist pharmacists in preparing and accurately dispensing prescription medications.
- Perform data entry, process insurance claims, and handle patient billing.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and restocking supplies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.
- Provide excellent customer service at the drop-off and pick-up counters.
- Adhere to all pharmacy laws, regulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Prepare compounded medications under the supervision of a pharmacist, following specific formulas and quality control procedures (training provided for the right candidate).
- Accurately weigh, measure, and mix pharmaceutical ingredients using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Clean, maintain, and calibrate compounding equipment and tools.
- Document all compounding activities accurately in logs and patient records.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration in good standing.
- PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification or equivalent, or willingness to obtain within [X] months.
- Minimum of [1-2] years of experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail, hospital, or specialty setting.
- Strong mathematical and computer skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with USP and guidelines.
- Experience with compounding software and precise measuring equipment (electronic balances, mortar and pestle, etc.).
- Sterile compounding experience (IV preparation, USP ) is an even greater plus.
- Formal training or a certificate in pharmacy compounding.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift boxes up to 25-30 lbs.
- Manual dexterity to handle small objects and operate pharmacy equipment.
