As a Quality Inspector, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance in our passenger railcar manufacturing operations. This position is ideal for a detail‑oriented professional passionate about quality assurance and continuous improvement in a dynamic, team‑driven environment.
What your day‑to‑day will look like:- Leads critical non‑routine visual, dimensional, mechanical, electrical test and functional inspections on a wide variety of components, assemblies, equipment, systems, supplies and materials.
- Works independently to perform complex and critical inspection processes, requiring special set‑ups of new or unique equipment and interpretation of test data from a variety of sources.
- Trains and/or oversees the work of less experienced inspectors.
- May conduct first article inspection of parts and assemblies.
- Prepares, approves inspection reports, charts, and records regarding quality measures, conformance status, and quantity of material processed.
- Leads root cause evaluations and corrective actions utilizing quality tools.
- Prepares charts and simple statistical analysis.
- Coordinates ordering of consumables and small tools for department use.
- Ensures assigned areas meet 6S standards and submits equipment maintenance requests.
- Works effectively in a team environment.
- Maintains a safety‑first approach.
- Demonstrates understanding of QMS, Microsoft, SAP, and ISO standards.
- Is well versed in metrology tools for measurements and inspections.
- Has good handwriting skills.
- Can solve complex practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- HS Diploma or GED equivalency (minimum requirement) and related work experience.
- Two or more years in quality department operations.
- Knowledge of TEAMS/SharePoint 2013, Teams, SAP, and other Microsoft products.
- Knowledge of document control standards and protocols.
- Knowledge of prevailing codes (ISO 9001:2015) is preferred.
- Knowledge of rolling stock and rolling stock components is preferred.
- Strong background in the use of metrology tooling.
- 5% travel.
