Position: SEN Teaching Assistant .

Special Needs Assistant - Championing Inclusion in Leyland!

Are you an experienced Special Needs Assistant looking for a fresh opportunity in the friendly town of Leyland
? Do you have the skills to address diverse needs, including physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges? We are currently seeking certified assistants to provide personalized support within primary education settings across Leyland starting in January 2026
.

In a town with a strong community spirit and a dedication to student welfare, your role will be vital in ensuring that children with additional needs can access a full and enriching curriculum. Whether you are supporting students with Autism, Global Development Delay, or hearing impairments, your creativity and patience will help create a classroom environment where every child in Leyland can flourish.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of resources and activities for 1:1 support tailored to the child's needs.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and the SENCO to organise appropriate activities.

  • Liaise with other professionals such as Teachers, TAs, and specialist support staff.

  • Work closely with other LSAs and support staff.

  • Work with classes, small groups, and with children on a one-to-one basis.

  • Monitor and track the development of the pupil in question and support personal development and confidence.

Essential Requirements
  • Experience of working with young people.

  • Be comfortable and confident in managing challenging behaviours.

  • Ability to engage with and build rapport with young people.

  • Be creative, proactive, and flexible in your supporting style.

  • Have experience with SEN or a strong knowledge of learning difficulties.

  • TA qualified.
