About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health Team at HMP Garth. HMP Garth has a capacity of around 800 males and is a category B Prison located in Lancashire.
The Mental Health Nurse Team will consist of 20 members of staff and will be primarily based within the Healthcare Department, but will also deliver care and interventions on the prison wings as part of their clinical duties.

This is a permanent position with an annual salary of £43,609 – £49,175 per annum, depending on experience.

Candidates must have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, all offers are subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main duties of the job- Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients’ mental health needs.
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner, manage a caseload of patients, assess their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
- Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision – provide outstanding evidence‑based care, seek out, listen to and act on patient feedback so that care is personalised.
- Deliver non-judgemental care, build therapeutic relationships and promote professional boundaries.
- Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care following our policies and procedures, always considering safeguarding.
