We have an exciting part‑time opportunity for a BANK Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Wymott, a Category C male prison located in Leyland. Ideally, the applicant should have a car driving role due to the location of the prison.

HMP Wymott has a capacity of around 1,100 and has a varied and complex population.

You will be working as part of the team and will be based within the healthcare department, required to work on the prison wings.

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties of the job
  • Work within a multi‑disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options.
  • Undertake medication rounds and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed.
  • Assess patients' health needs using an evidence‑based framework and be able to risk assess using sound clinical knowledge.
  • Work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a case load of patients.
  • Deliver non‑judgemental care that makes a real difference.
  • Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects, liaising with prescribers as required.
  • Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders.
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care.
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams and supporting each other to do a great job.
Qualifications required
  • Qualified Mental Health Nurse - NMC registration
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
  • Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
