AT-A-GLANCE POSITION INFORMATION
  • Type of position: Full time (40 hrs/week)
  • Position Status: Permanent
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Location: Liberal Arts Campus (LAC), but will support both campuses
  • Salary: $5,847.57 – $7,203.71 Monthly (RANGE 34)
  • Eligibility list: Valid for 12 months once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission. The district reserves the right to use the established eligibility list for vacancies in this classification and related classifications.
  • Advanced salary placement: Generally new employees start at the first step; advanced placement may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis, typically capped at Step 3.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze procurement needs, interpret requirements, and apply applicable laws and policies.
  • Conduct competitive bidding, evaluate quotations, and make sound award recommendations.
  • Perform vendor research, assessment, and relationship‑building to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Compare products and services for cost‑effectiveness, suitability, and compliance.
  • Communicate professionally with departments, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Exercise sound judgment, prioritize, and make independent decisions within defined authority.
  • Resolve procurement issues with tact, diplomacy, and a customer‑service mindset.
  • Use enterprise financial systems, standard business software, and accurate numerical calculations.
  • Review and process high volumes of purchase orders, verifying accuracy promptly and efficiently.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate’s degree in procurement, public administration, business administration, finance, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience purchasing items similar to those purchased by the District; experience in a public agency is preferred.
  • Valid California driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability under the District’s vehicle insurance policy (may be required).
