Position Summary

The Associate Underwriter at Novatae Risk Group is a critical role within our Wholesale Insurance division, responsible for supporting the underwriting team in assessing, evaluating, and managing risks associated with insurance submissions. This position plays a pivotal role in maintaining underwriting standards, analyzing policies, and assisting clients in securing appropriate coverage.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Risk Assessment: Collaborate with underwriters to assess risks associated with insurance submissions, including reviewing underwriting data, loss history, and other relevant information.
  • Risk Assessment: Contribute to the determination of the acceptability of risks and appropriate coverage.
  • Policy Analysis: Analyze insurance policies to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with underwriting guidelines
  • Policy Analysis: Assist in reviewing policy terms, conditions, and coverage options to support decision-making.
  • Client Interaction: Engage with clients to gather additional information about insurance submissions, address inquiries, and provide support.
  • Client Interaction: Collaborate with underwriters to assess client risks and insurance requirements.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain organized and accessible records related to underwriting activities, client information, and policy documentation.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Ensure the accurate and efficient processing of underwriting files.
  • Operational Support: Assist in coordinating operational processes related to underwriting, including policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, and reporting.
  • Operational Support: Collaborate with internal departments to ensure the efficient execution of underwriting tasks.
Position Specific Skills/Qualifications

Work Experience:
  • Prior experience in an assistant underwriter role or relevant experience in the insurance industry is typically preferred for Associate Underwriter positions.
  • Professional Licenses/Certificates (if needed based on industry standard):
  • A valid insurance license, as required by state regulations, may be necessary.
  • Essential Skills/

    Competency:

  • Strong analytical skills for risk assessment and policy evaluation.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in underwriting documentation.
  • Proficiency in office software, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Effective communication skills for client interactions and collaboration with underwriters.
  • Ability to adapt to the dynamic insurance environment and contribute to the maintenance of underwriting standards.
  • Education:
  • A bachelor  degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field is typically preferred for Associate Underwriter positions.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions Physical Demands

Office work. Office work involves working at a desk most of the time, using a stand-up/sit-down adjustable desk. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Typing, grasping, and repetitive motion typically is required every day, and walking and standing are required occasionally.
