Teacher – Advocate Health Care
We are seeking a dedicated Teacher for our day center. This role includes curriculum development, child care, and parent communication. Competitive base pay: $19.45/hr - $29.20/hr
.
- Plan and implement curriculum activities and early learning practices using Illinois Early Learning Standards and NAEYC guidelines.
- Attend professional development workshops, conferences, and early childhood related college classes; apply new knowledge to classroom practice.
- Maintain inservice hours annually and update professional development records.
- Earn or maintain an Early Childhood Credential (Level 3 or higher) through approved gateways.
- Prepare lesson plans, schedules, and learning objectives for a full class of children.
- Document child progress with observations, developmental checklists, and progress reports.
- Ensure safety and health of children: head counts, ratio sheets, safety checks, and incident reporting.
- Maintain clean, safe classroom environment per DCFS, NAEYC, and Environmental Rating Scale.
- Communicate with parents through daily notes, conferences, and newsletters; conduct intake meetings for new families.
- Model positive behavior and discipline techniques; coach peers as needed.
- Collaborate with teaching team, administration, and co-workers to support program quality.
- Monitor and address child behavior with discipline guidelines; maintain compliance with DCFS regulations.
- Assist in training and mentoring new staff.
- Maintain child health and safety practices: sleep room checks, meal, medication records, and allergy management.
- Two years of college; minimum 9 credit hours of Early Childhood Education courses with 1 year recent teaching experience.
- Current Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate with 1 year day care experience, or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills with children, families, and associates.
- Emotional maturity, listening skills, availability, and responsiveness.
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate learning experiences.
- Lifting: up to 11–50 pounds frequently; up to 10 pounds constantly; assist with lifts over 35 pounds.
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, carry children, sit until 15–20 minutes.
- Requires flexible schedule and unusual hours.
- Must handle multiple tasks and work in fast‑paced environment.
- Must respond quickly to unsafe conditions and maintain child safety.
